This is a really strong word picture that hits home for many of us. We are busy doing a lot of good things for God, or at least we try to convince ourselves of that.
Jesus was extremely busy when the time came for his three year public ministry to start on earth. He was always in tune with His Heavenly Father, though, and everything He did was of eternal value. He did not do things just because they were good, or because He felt guilty if He did not participate. His whole purpose for being was to serve and glorify God in everything He did.
The Holy Spirit lives in the heart of every Christian, and desires to give the guidance needed to be able to walk in the truth. All you need to do is ask Him, and have an open heart and mind to hear Him and walk in obedience.
He will never lead you astray; you can do things with fervor and passion because you know that what you are doing is initiated and blessed by God.
You will still be busy doing good works, but now God will be the one who is glorified. He then will be able to mold you into the person He desires to carry forth His plans.
What a wonderful way to live!
Don’t be like the person in the picture. Make your relationship with God first priority over everything that is in your “Inbox” or to-do list for the day. Don’t make Him have to call time after time trying to get your attention.
