What a word picture!
How many times do we as Christians think we are just a small fish in a large pond and can never accomplish anything really worthwhile. But look what can happen when several small fish band together – they can overcome the larger fish.
Through years of history, God has been able to use different people in a dramatic way as they decided to completely give Him their whole heart. These examples come to mind:
St. Augustine
Martin Luther
Charles Spurgeon
Dwight L Moody
Charles Finney
God chose the people above to lead others and He was able to use them greatly because they decided to give Him their life wholly and completely. Every person is not called to be a preacher or evangelist, but we all have a calling from God and He wants to use us in a great way to accomplish His Work.
Many times we might feel the call from God, but then we look around us and feel that one person can not make much of a difference to make change in a certain area. Because of that, we just decide to do nothing and evil continues to rule.
Philippians 4: 13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Even though God doesn’t have to, He wants to use His people to accomplish things on His behalf. Ask Him to show you what He wants you to do, and press forward to accomplish it. When you look at the situation through your own eyes it may look impossible, but nothing is impossible with God.
He does not want you to be able to do the job on your own merits or with your own knowledge or power. He gives you a job that you cannot possibly do except for his intervention. When you think about it, God has looked down and chosen you to do a particular thing to carry out His Work here on earth. How awesome that He wants to use you when He could have chosen anyone!
When the Children of Israel were in the wilderness, God told Moses that He wanted a tabernacle built so the people could worship Him and know that He was always with them. He chose certain people and gave them supernatural abilities and wisdom to be in charge of all the work. What an honor that would have been!
The bottom line is that you will always have a choice when you feel God leading you to do something. You can look at everything around you and get dragged down by the fact that you can’t see how anything could ever work out; or you can step out into the unknown and tell God that you can’t possibly accomplish what He is asking unless He intervenes on your behalf, but you are going to trust, try, and prove Him to see what He will do.
Don’t just be a small fish in a large pond that looks at everything as impossible; let God show you what He wants you to do and step out into the unknown!
Why not go out on a limb? Isn’t that where all the fruit is?
