What an awesome term to use in the way you feel about your Heavenly Father. You can love your earthly father very much, and your earthly father can love you, but neither of these loves can compare to the degree and depth that your Heavenly Father loves you.
I dare say that not one of us would love all the people in the world so much that they would send their only son to die on a cruel cross so that even the most unloving and cruel people would have a chance to be saved from going to the horrible place called Hell.
The word ‘KNOW’ is always used in the Bible in a very intimate way. God doesn’t want you to just do “good works” for Him (even though that is an honorable and good thing 😉 He wants you to have such an intimate relationship with Him that you always give Him first priority over every other thing or person in your life.
It is easy to get caught up in doing good things for God. He may have opened the door for you to be in a specific ministry for Him, and you are fortunate enough to be able to spend your workday in a full-time capacity on His behalf. Even though that is an awesome thing, He will always consider your RELATIONSHIP with Him to be the most crucial and important thing you can ever do. If you concentrate on that FIRST and foremost, any other ministry that He gives you the opportunity to do will then be an overflow of that personal time spent with Him each day.
It is only then that you can be used by God in a powerful and supernatural way to pray for the needs of others, be able to discern the best way to help them, and be used mightily for the Kingdom of God in whatever way He chooses. You will also be able to love your family in a way that is much better and deeper than you have ever done in the past.
Total trust in God means that you are so sure of His Character that you totally trust Him to meet every need and work in every circumstance on your behalf.
If you have a good relationship with your earthly father, you would feel free to ask for his help, especially if you couldn’t handle the situation by yourself.
So knowing that your Heavenly Father loves you even more than your earthly father ever could, why wouldn’t you be able to trust Him with even the smallest of problems or circumstances that arise?
Get in the habit of going to God with small and everyday things, and the large ones will be automatic. You won’t even have to think about it. Your Abba Father loves you much more than you could ever imagine, but He rejoices when you decide to make fellowship with Him above every other kind of ministry.
