How Audacious Is Your Faith?
2Ki 3:16 And he (Elisha) said, Thus saith the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.
2Ki 3:17 For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.
2Ki 3:18 And thisis but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.
2Ki 3:20 And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.
2Ki 3:21 And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered all that were able to put on armour, and upward, and stood in the border.
2Ki 3:22 And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood:
2Ki 3:23 And they said, This is blood: the kings are surely slain, and they have smitten one another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.
2Ki 3:24 And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them: but they went forward smiting the Moabites, even in their country.
To try their faith and obedience, Elisha bids them make the valley full of pits to receive water. Those who expect God’s blessings, must dig pools for the rain to fill, as in the valley of Baca, and thus make even that a well, Psalm 84: 6. We need not inquire whence the water came. God is not tied to second causes. They that sincerely seek for the dew of God’s grace, shall have it, and by it be made more than conquerors. –from Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary-
What we think of as being extremely hard is very easy for God.
The people were in a huge bind. They might have been mighty warriors, but no matter how strong they were, they were brought to a screeching halt because there was no water to drink.
So many times we think we can take care of ourselves and do it on our own, but just like in this passage, we can be brought to a complete halt because of one large or even tiny circumstance that is beyond our control. Things can change very quickly for the worse and many times we can do nothing about it.
But God already knows how he will handle every problem and He has a blueprint for you to follow that will always result in His Best for your life. That is why it is so important for you to read the Bible, pray, and ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit to know and understand His plan, and in what direction you should go to follow it.
God does things totally different than we do when it comes to problem solving.
He told the people that it would not rain, but the ditches would be filled, and He kept His Word.
When you have read the Bible enough to start to know and understand how God works, you will begin to have a much bolder faith; you know He will always keep His word if He has told you He will do something.
If you cling to that Word, when Satan tries to tell you that what you are believing God for will never happen, you can tell him very boldly to “go away and leave you alone in the Name of Jesus Christ.” The good thing is that he will have to do it if he knows you are walking in and acting upon the truth.
Cling to the promises of God, and don’t let anything or anyone make you change your mind. God WILL do what He says even though it might take longer than you would like. He always does everything right on time – never early or never late.
If you know that God has told you to do something, do it with all your heart, mind and strength, and don’t listen to anyone else who might try to convince you otherwise. After all, they are not the ones who heard God – YOU ARE.
We need Christians who will stand up and claim God’s promises BEFORE they see them happen. God will always honor His Word, and He wants you to have the radical faith to believe it no matter what the circumstances are that are happening around you.
First, make absolutely sure that you heard God correctly; then believe that what He said will come to pass with all your heart.
