Isaiah 55: 8-11
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
God’s word manifested in you should be like the rain coming down. After it touches the ground, it waters and replenishes the earth and makes the seeds bud and blossom. But the rain doesn’t get to choose where it will fall or how much it will water the certain area where it does fall. It ends up exactly where God desires without having a say in the matter at all.
Rainfall is a perfect example of how God desires each Christian to live. He wants us to be poured out wherever He desires without thought or yearning on our part that we would rather have fallen in another place that was more lucrative.
There are very lush and vegetative rain forests that get not inches but feet of rain per year; then there are desert areas that get only a few inches of rain in a year. Even though their climates are very different there are many plants that have learned to thrive and grow in even the harshest of climates. Every area has beauty that is very unique and it is amazing how you can be stunned by the awe and beauty of the desert one day and the next day be awed by a green lush rain forest, knowing that they are total opposites where beauty is concerned.
God has a very special and unique plan for your life. I have no idea whether your rain drops might be poured out over the desert, over a bustling city, a beautiful countryside, or a lush rain forest; but I do know that God desires only the BEST for you in every way. Only He can know the exact place where you will fit perfectly into His plan.
In these last days God is looking for a people who will blindly and boldly trust Him to do what He says He will do. He wants our life to be one that is filled with miracles and supernatural works that only He can do.
To get God’s power will require sacrificing your dreams and desires for a life of obedience to God’s plan and way of doing things. Not everyone will be called to be a pastor or evangelist, but we can all walk in God’s power in whatever vocation we are in at the moment.
I think many people feel they cannot make a huge impact for God if they are not a great preacher or teacher who ministers to a huge number of people. You are only responsible for what God has told you to do, and He wants you to be completely satisfied that you are in the center of His will.
Too many times I have had my own agenda and wanted God to go along with it; then I was very disappointed when what He wanted me to do was not what I had planned. Make the choice to never have your own agenda, but always be open to the agenda of God. The men and women who were used the most by God just waited for Him to speak and had no other agenda but to walk in obedience.
In my experience, God’s plan has always worked out much better than my own; in fact, most of the time I have never even thought about doing it the way He wanted it done.
Don’t let Satan convince you that God could never use you in a remarkable way. He needs workers in every area and vocation because there are people who need Him everywhere you look. You are somebody special in His eyes because you are one of His Children so decide right now that you will follow His agenda each day instead of your own.
