Is God your Lighthouse in the Storm?

March 6th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Christ, Christianity, evangelical, faith, God, Jesus, Religion

I came across a picture the other day that is very powerful. Look closely for the small man in the middle of the lighthouse under the two windows.

Storm engulfs lighthouse

You can barely see the man standing outside, but you just know that if he doesn’t make a move very soon, he will be engulfed in the churning water.

This is a powerful word picture to me of how sometimes the storms of life seem to rage around us. We might even think they are going to totally overwhelm us at times. This lighthouse has stood the test of time, though, and all the man has to do is get back inside and close the door tightly.

Psalms 107: 28-29 Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, so that its waves are still.

God has the power to either calm the storm or carry you through it.

He is like the lighthouse – your place of refuge from the enormous wave that tries to engulf and destroy you. Only He has the real power to keep you safe. You don’t have to fight the battle by yourself any longer.

Run to God and let Him fight it for you. If you are already a Christian, start reading the Bible, praying, and seeking His Will for your life. If you are not a Christian, please know that all you have to do is at this very moment ask Jesus to come into your heart and save you. You don’t have to know a lot of theology or religion. Just a simple prayer will change your life.

You don’t have to fight life’s huge battle alone. God is always ready to be your lighthouse in the storm.

i know a photographer who knows the actual photographer of this image. the man in the photograph asked the photographer to take a photo of him with the lighthouse. the photographer flew over the lighthouse in his microlight helicopter and the man heard the noise of the microlight and came out to take the photos. he knew that he could quickly shut the door at any time after the he posed for a few seconds. and that is exactly what he did. such a simple explaination for such a captivating photo!
