Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.
People who are successful in life live by this principle whether they realize it or not. They know that success comes by doing the small and everyday insignificant things in the best way possible and with the best attitude possible.
I know this works in the business world, but it can also be successful for your spiritual life as well.
I think many Christians feel intimidated by a Daily Bible Study Time. They think they must set aside a huge block of time and be proficient at using commentaries and dictionaries to understand the Bible. And… what if they misunderstand what it says and get off track spiritually.
It does take some mental concentration to read and study, but anything that is truly worthwhile takes some effort. This principle applies to everything you do in life.
You can either coast through life or decide to learn and grow as much as possible along the way.
When you make Bible Study a priority the Holy Spirit shows you personal truths that will change your everyday life. The Bible won’t seem boring and irrelevant any longer, but will be fresh and exciting as you start to understand its truths.
But it is of vital importance to ask the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and understanding.
In fact, you will never be able to really understand the Bible without the wisdom and understanding the Holy Spirit gives.
Because of His help, you can read it over and over and get new and fresh insights. Because you are growing spiritually you will be in a different state of spiritual maturity now than you were a few months ago.
The Holy Spirit knows exactly what you are ready to understand and apply to your life today.
JUST DECIDE TO START and truly concentrate for 15 minutes each day. Set a timer and put your whole effort into understanding and applying what you are reading. When the timer buzzes, it’s time to go on to what you need to do next.
That 10-15 minutes might not seem like much when you think about it in the context of just one day, but when you do it consistently for 365 days, it turns into a very positive thing that can dramatically change your life. If you only learn one small truth a week that you can apply to your life, it will make a huge difference in the span of one year.
After you have developed some discipline in the area of Bible Study, start a prayer time using these same steps.
When you truly start to see God at work in your life you will desire to spend more time in a relationship with Him.
When you do all the small things well each day and with your whole heart, God then sees that He can use you to do bigger and greater things.
And the thing is… it will be your greatest desire for Him to be able to use you!
