Becoming a Giant with God
You must consider your daily appointments with God more sacred and important than appointments with any other people – no matter who they are.
How embarrassing it must be for heaven to see the way we Christians fail to highly regard the majesty of our God, the King of Glory. We are often flippant in the way we keep him waiting. And at the drop of a hat, we will suddenly cancel plans to meet with Him in His courts, all for the most trifling thing! Even worse, we often do not bother to show up in God’s presence at all. It is not that we forget our appointment with Him, but we willfully refuse to appear before Him.
The truth is – it is impossible to waste time when you are seeking God in prayer. Furthermore, outside the secret closet, the praying man or woman accomplishes more in less time, with less hurry and less effort and sweat.
The most effective work for God we will ever do is on our knees. While the prayerless run helter skelter, to and fro, attempting great things, the praying Christian is hard at work moving kingdoms, shattering strongholds, doing great things and, in the process, becoming a giant with God.
I read the above paragraphs in a newsletter that I received some time ago from a sermon that was preached by David Wilkerson before his death in 2011.
These words made a great impression on me, because in the past I was so busy doing other trivial, but I thought important, things that I put God on the back burner and didn’t make the time to have a close relationship with Him.
It’s funny that I have been in church all my life, and many of my outside activities have revolved around what was going on at church. Many times I was busy doing things FOR God, but didn’t take the time to develop a relationship WITH Him like I have for a spouse and best friend.
I want my relationship with God to be the most important thing in my life. If that relationship is a priority each day, everything else will supernaturally fall into place.
When problems come my way, I will automatically RUN TO God instead of trying to find the answer myself. It is only then that others around me can see His Supernatural Power working everything out in a truly supernatural way.
Make the appointment you have with God the most important thing you do all day. You won’t regret it!
